Winter!: Prepare for holiday gaming!
Disgaea 3 fails me in one respect - the graphics. The PS3 practically crawls into the corner to whimper in discontent at its treatment - displaying such rudimentary PS2 launch title quality sprites.
However, that's the only con. Otherwise, the game is brilliant.
It has a far better story than Disgaea 2 had, and is almost as good as the original in this respect, I think. The music is fun, standard NIS fare and includes remixes of some classic favorites.
The gameplay. Oh my. The gameplay. They seem to have fixed every problem I had with previous Disgaea universe titles and have streamlined the experience into something that's easy to learn but challenging to master. I love the blocks and destroyable "terrain". They really fill a gap that was always nagging me.
Oh, and downloadable content for extra obsessive compulsiveness is never a bad thing either ;)
It's not the best tactical strategy RPG I've ever played, but (all things considered) it IS my favorite Disgaea.
